As of February 2025, “Avengers: Secret Wars” is an upcoming film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), scheduled for release on May 7, 2027. Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, the film is set to be the 46th installment in the MCU, concluding Phase Six and the Multiverse Saga. 

The narrative of “Avengers: Secret Wars” is anticipated to draw inspiration from the iconic Marvel Comics storyline, where a powerful entity known as the Beyonder transports numerous heroes and villains to a planet called Battleworld, compelling them into conflict. In this environment, characters such as Spider-Man undergo significant transformations, including acquiring the black symbiote suit that eventually leads to the emergence of Venom. 

A notable development in the casting is the return of Robert Downey Jr. to the MCU, this time portraying the antagonist Doctor Victor von Doom. This casting choice signifies a shift from his previous role as Tony Stark/Iron Man and is expected to introduce a complex dynamic to the storyline.Â
