“Halloween Kills,” directed by David Gordon Green, is the twelfth installment in the Halloween franchise and a direct sequel to the 2018 film “Halloween.”
The story picks up immediately where the previous film left off, with Laurie Strode, her daughter Karen, and granddaughter Allyson leaving Michael Myers to burn in Laurie’s basement. However, Michael miraculously escapes the fiery trap and resumes his killing spree through the town of Haddonfield.
As news of Michael’s survival spreads, the townspeople, led by Tommy Doyle—one of Michael’s former targets—band together to hunt him down and put an end to his reign of terror once and for all. The film highlights the community’s collective trauma and their desperate desire for justice, driving them into a frenzy.
Laurie, severely injured, is hospitalized and unable to join the fight, leaving Karen and Allyson to face the horror without her. As Michael continues his brutal killings, the residents of Haddonfield confront their fear and anger, leading to mob violence and chaos. The film explores themes of fear, revenge, and the cyclical nature of violence, showing how Michael’s evil influences and corrupts even those who oppose him.
In the climax, despite the town’s best efforts, Michael proves to be nearly unstoppable, surviving multiple attacks and continuing his rampage. The film ends on a chilling note, setting the stage for the final confrontation in the upcoming sequel, “Halloween Ends.”
“Halloween Kills” is a brutal and relentless horror film that delves into the legacy of Michael Myers’ terror, the impact of communal trauma, and the dark consequences of seeking vengeance.
