Infini (2015)

“Infini,” directed by Shane Abbess, is a science fiction thriller that explores the themes of survival and the human psyche. The film is set in the early 23rd century and follows a search-and-rescue mission to a remote mining station called Infini. The story centers on Whit Carmichael, a member of an elite search and rescue team known as the West Coast SAR.

Whit and his team use a technology called “slipstreaming” to teleport instantly across vast distances in space. During a routine mission, a biological outbreak occurs on Infini, leading to the brutal deaths of the entire crew except for Whit, who manages to survive by isolating himself. In response, a rescue team is dispatched to retrieve him and prevent the outbreak from spreading to Earth.

Upon arrival, the team discovers that the mining station is overrun by a parasitic organism that turns people into violent, mindless killers. As they navigate the hostile environment, they struggle to maintain their sanity and humanity. The mission becomes a harrowing fight for survival as they confront the infected crew members and the horrors that the parasite brings out in them.

Whit and the remaining team members must figure out how to escape the station and contain the infection. They face moral dilemmas and the fear of their own potential transformation. The psychological tension escalates as they grapple with the fear of losing themselves to the parasite.

“Infini” combines intense action with psychological horror, highlighting the fragility of the human mind under extreme duress. The film delves into the darkest aspects of survival and the lengths to which people will go to save themselves and humanity. Through Whit’s resilience and determination, “Infini” portrays a gripping tale of human endurance against overwhelming odds.
